Another year has come and gone here at Switch On The Code and that means it's time to look back at 2009 and how we did. First I have say it was a great year and we really did a lot of new things here. We started podcasting, doing video tutorials, and much more. A new version of the site was launched built completely in Drupal just about 1 year ago exactly. Now I really hope that this year will bring just as many goodies.
Taking a look at the numbers we really did have a very good year, we ended with 2,034,856 visits and 2,877,551 pageviews, which gave us a measly 76% increase from the year before. You can check a number of the other stats below (compared to last year) but we had increases across the board, with the exception of percentage of new visitors which lowered - this is what we want though.
The most popular posts for 2009 are as follows:
- Using jQuery Slider to Scroll a Div : 78,827 pageviews
- Flex Fun - Advanced DataGrid Topics : 65,077
- C# Tutorial - Image Editing: Saving, Cropping, and Resizing : 60,089
- WPF Tutorial - Using The ListView, Part 1 : 54,854
- C# Tutorial - Simple Threaded TCP Server : 48,910
I am happy to say that spot 1 and 2 belong to myself, The Fattest.
When it comes to search traffic, which is our main traffic source, Google sent us just over 1.1 Million visits. This is a 43% increase over the previous year. I hope to see this kind of improvement in the next year, that would be just awesome. The top keywords searched for were:
- wcf tutorial
- wpf listview
- javascript setinterval
- flex tutorial
- c# dictionary
That pretty much takes care of our stats for 2009 - all of these came from our Google Analytics account. This upcoming year should be another great one for not only Switch On The Code but for Paranoid Ferret Productions as a whole. I'm sure some of you noticed that we have been slacking on posts. We have actually been working pretty hard on a new project, an iPhone game. Keep an eye out for it since we really think that it is going to be a good one. I do promise that we won't stop writing tutorials anytime soon.
