Get Access to Hundreds of Office Icons

Posted in:

Here's a quick little tip that will give you access to tons of icons available in Microsoft Office. Officially they're supposed to be used when creating Office add-ins, however I use them when I need quick icons for use in mock-ups and prototypes.

The package is available from Microsoft as a free download. It contains a self-extractor with one document - a macro-enabled Excel workbook. When opened (and after you enable macros) the icon gallery will be visible on the developer tab.

You may have to enable the developer tab first, so here's some instructions to do that.

Ribbon right mouse click

Choose Excel Options from the Application Menu

Show developer tab

Enable Show Developer tab in the Ribbon

As soon as you're done, a developer tab should appear on your Ribbon. It also should have added an area for the icon gallery. You're now free to browse through hundreds of office icons.
