Due to a combination of performance and compatibility issues, I recently rolled back my Vista laptop to Windows XP. Unfortunately, I had to give up one of my favorite features of Windows Vista - the breadcrumbs in the explorer address bar.
Fortunately for me, and all of you, the folks over at Quizo's software have made a plugin that brings the Vista breadcrumbs to Windows XP. The software is called QT Address Bar and I highly recommend checking it out.
The documentation didn't really explain how to enable the address bar once it was installed, so hopefully I'll save you some time by explaining it here. Once you follow their directions and install the bar, you'd expect it to just be there the next time you opened explorer - but it's not. You have to enable the bar using explorer's view options.
After you enable the bar, you might notice it's not quite positioned right. Just unlock the toolbar and move it to where you want it. The last thing to do is disable the original address bar (unless you want the breadcrumbs and XP's address bar at the same time). You can download the software from their website.

For some reason, the toolbar doesn't show in winodws explorer UNLESS it is enabled in INTERNET EXPLORER.
So, just open up your internet explorer..right click next to an open tab and you'll see breadcrumbs in the menu that opens..checkmark the breadcrumbs option..now a dialog box will appear asking you are you sure you want to enable breadcrumbs toolbar for internet explorer. Click yes, and close IE.
Now open my computer, in the view options make sure Breadcrumbs is check marked.
Viola..breadcrumbs is enabled. If you have any questions, you can email me at hnaqvi_46@hotmail.com
PS. It's not just you, the instructions to get this thing to work can be VERY confusing. It's the developer's fault..but since he programmed this great utility I'm gonna let him/her off the hook :)
