Web Point Zero is the latest installment in our "let's see what we can do with Javascript" collection of web sites. There wasn't a lot of thought that went into creating this site. Being able to view multiple sites within a single page sounded neat to us - so we made it.
We threw in a few features to make the experience a little richer for the user. We made some templates that automatically create a set of tabs with a specific theme - like news and search. Any modifications made to the templates are saved in a cookie so they're there waiting for you when you come back. We also tossed in user accounts so you can view saved templates on another computer. If you like to keep up-to-date, tabs can automatically be refreshed on time intervals.
You may have noticed the 'very beta' up in the logo. At the moment, that's a pretty good label for this site. Some websites simply don't like being children of another website. So you may notice, from time to time, that when a website is added as a tab, you're taken completely away from Web Point Zero. This is because those websites are setting themselves as the parent page. We found ways around this, but due to current browser security settings, we can't use them. We did stick in some safe guards that prevent these sites from being permanently added as tabs. If they were, every time you came back to Web Point Zero, you'd be taken to their site.
Web Point Zero uses code from almost every Javascript tutorial we've posted, so it's a good place to check if you're looking for some real-world examples of our tutorials. Enjoy.
